メールを送信してしばらくすると英語のエラーメールが届いたことはありませんか?
この場合、送信できなかった原因が記載されています。
送信できない原因はそう多くないのでパターンをおさえておけばスムーズな対応ができます。
主なエラーの原因TOP3
送信先のサーバが見つからない場合(宛先アドレスの入力ミス)
Host unknown や Host Not Found などの文字がある場合、ホスト(受け手のメールサーバ)が見つからないという意味です。これは宛先の@マークより右側の部分が間違っている時に発生します。
送信先の相手が見つからない場合
User unknown や Unknown User などの文字がある場合、ユーザが見つからないという意味です。これは宛先の@マークより左側の部分が間違っている時に発生します。
注意としては入力は間違っていないのにこのエラーメールが返ってくる場合があります。これは受け手が「受信拒否」等をしている場合、このエラーメールを返す仕様になっている事があります。実際、大手の携帯電話会社ではこのような対応をしているところがあります。
送信先の相手のメールボックスが満杯の場合
Message size exceeds remaining quota や Disk quota exceeded などの文字がある場合は「届けようとしたが、Mailbox(郵便受け)が満杯なので入らない」という意味です。
これは相手が Mailbox を空けてくれないと送信できないので送りて側ではどうすることもできませんが、しばらく待ってから送ると空いていて送信できるかもしれません。
エラーメールの送り主
英語のエラーメールは誰が送っているのでしょうか?この場合の送り手は2つ考えられます。1つは送信元のサーバ、もう1つは受信元のサーバです。
送り手の送り主の名前は MAILER-DAEMON や Mail Delivery Subsystem となっているのがほとんどです。
送信時、すぐにエラーと分かる場合と、しばらくして英語のエラーメールが届く場合
例えば送信先メールアドレスに@マークが含まれていない場合は明らかにメールアドレスではない と分かりますのでメールソフトがエラー画面を表示し、送信はされません。
